Signs When Hospice is Appropriate
  

Here is a list of some signs and symtoms that may indicate that Hospice is appropriate:

 

Uncontrolled or increasing pain

Increased shortness of breath

Increased dysphagia (difficulty in swallowing)

Progressive, uncontrolled swelling

Unresolved nausea / vomiting

Oxygen dependence

Progressive weight loss

Mounting kidney and urinary difficulties

Frequent infections

Numerous hospitalizations and ER visits

Profound weakness and fatigue

Worsening mobility and function

 

The earlier Hospice care is started, the more beneficial it can be to patients and their families.
