Story published in Inside Polk, a magazine contained in The Ledger newspaper, Lakeland, Florida.
Hospice has been defined as "a lodging for travelers," or "a facility or program designed to provide a caring environment for meeting the physical and emotional needs of the terminally ill." Both are accurate, but Cornerstone Hospice, serving Central Florida since 1984 and Polk County since 2002, seems to go above and beyond the traditional description to incorporate much more. The staff in Winter Haven is complsed of about 75 individuals,; nurses, doctors, social workers, ARNPs and a host of volunteers reach about 180 patients in the community every day.
