As "snowbirds", we've been enjoying what Orlando has to offer for many years. Little did we realize that our last trip would be our last time with my beautiful Mother-in-Law, Mary. Our bittersweet journey ended at our winter home with the angelic, caring nurses and medical assistants from Cornerstone Hospice. My experience as a surgical technician couldn't prepare me for the intense pain and desperation felt as we were losing Mom. Everyone involved in Mom's last days was so remarkable and comforting. How fortunate we are to have such professional and compassionate resources available. While my husband and I will never stop loving and missing Mom, knowing that she was getting the absolute best care available helped ease our incredible pain a bit. We lost Mom in April and we are still hearing from Cornerstone Hospice, offering bereavement counseling, how to deal with our profound grief and just making sure that we are OKay - like wrapping a big loving blanket around my husband and me. God bless everyone who cared for Mom; they will forever be in our prayers.
